| What Should I Blog About |

"What should I blog about." I hear this every day. Hey, I'm not going to fault you for being there, because I've been there. You know you want to make money blogging, and you know you'd be good at it, but you just don't know exactly where to start.
You should blog about something about which you are passionate. But, what if you are passionate about skateboarding? Sure, you could blog about that all day long, and you might even be able to build a readership. But, what the heck are you going to sell to your army of adoring fans at skateboardblog.com? Boards, sure, but can you really make a living selling boards.
There is a lot of stuff that goes into deciding what you are going to blog about, but in the end, the most important thing might be equal parts passion and ability to monetize.You can have a money making blog, if you give it some energy.
If you are like me, you enjoy numerous things, and a subset of these is easily monetized. So, a really natural course of action would be to do two or three blogs for six months, and see what clicks. This sounds like a ton of work - producing 3-5 posts a week for 3-5 blogs - but the payoff is that you'll find that magic market.
Take a day or two and think about what it is you really want to talk about - something that you enjoy talking about to people now. Pretend someone started talking to you at a party about widgets, and you got really excited. What is the widget that you like to talk about?
While you are thinking, Write down all of your ideas. Visualize some domain names and see how you feel about them. Think about what your first three posts would discuss.
DO NOT DISMISS ANY OF THEM YET!!
It will come next, but for now, Why discount something that might really work because you have had a crappy day. Right it down and let it roll around in your head. Don't think that this is "it" for you, because remember, this is just the first blog - not the last.
Once you have picked a top idea, from your millions of brainchildren, even though it is too early - even though you have doubts about it, just decide on one, and decide that you are now officially an widget blogger.
"But, what about..." you say.
"Or, what about..."
In four months, after you have been writing several times a week about something you are passionate about, after you have learned the inner secrets of blogging and making money from blogs, then you can tell me I was wrong. More than likely you will thank me for getting you off your butt and suggesting that you make a decision.
Or, you could keep asking "but what about..." until next Easter and you'll be the same place you are now.
Go. Think. Write, and you'll be on your way to know how to Earn Money by Blogs.
